This is my 23rd year teaching(…and I wear my gray hair as a badge of honor! ;) I taught bilingual 1st and 4th grades for 6 years in Ravenswood School District in East Palo Alto and have taught for 16 years at Ocean Shore, 15 of those in a 4th/5th combo. I am also the parent of an 8th grader, Julian, in Sophie’s class and a 4 year-old, Coralie, who is at the TTT pre-school. My wife, Anna, is a Kindergarten teacher in Mill Valley. Our family was fortunate enough to move to Pacifica a few years ago after a few years in Moss Beach and 20 years in San Francisco before that. I grew up in Belmont and attended Carlmont High School. Later, I went to UCLA for 2 Bachelors Degrees in Germanic Languages and West African History, and then I did my teaching credential and Graduate work at USF. I teach a class at SF State in the Department of Education on Teaching Social Studies for Literacy and Social Justice. When I am not teaching, I love to hike and camp, play music and cook. In another life, I would love to be a mariachi, a linguist, a chef or an outdoors or food writer.
