Thursday, June 3, 2021 Quote of the week: "Always concentrate on how far you’ve come, rather than how far you have left to go." Anonymous Dear Ocean Shore Families, For educators, this year isn't even close to being over, even though our last day is just over a week away. There is so much to do: report cards, graduation, end of the year activities, interviewing potential teachers; the list is endless. However, we should also be celebrating what we've accomplished this year. We held our community together through a flood, pandemic and the tragic deaths of Sean and Patty. We are resilient and we are survivors, every last one of us. Come help us celebrate at the PTO General Meeting, tonight at 7:00 pm. Please join us, and please consider volunteering for an open position. Ocean Shore can't function without a strong PTO and lots of parent participation. If you can handle juggling children's Zoom schedules while working from home, you can probably handle a volunteer position. I can assure you, it's a lot easier! Here is the Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/94420268836?pwd=dGZhT1ZEL1FPSEJTZEl0SUpLLzJMdz09. I hope to see many of you there! Also, this Friday at 6:30 pm is the official end of Oceans Week. We will be celebrating Sheila Gamble-Dorn at the Oceans 411 Game Night and will have Sheila-themed trivia questions. She is coming but doesn't know about the questions or that we will be honoring her service to Ocean Shore, past and present. It would be fantastic to have a strong turnout at this event. It's free. Please visit ossgamenight.eventbrite.com or click HERE to register today! That's all for now. Please know that we are hard at work trying to fill our teaching positions for next year, and that the process is going well. Nothing can be announced right now, but I will keep everyone updated as soon as I can. Take care, Jeanne Shout out of the week goes to our Oceans 411 team! Both virtual assemblies were engaging, fun, and informative, online lessons and resources were amazing, and all of the kids enjoyed learning about marine mammals. I did not know that dolphins are actually part of the whale family, but I do now. School Business EAT team announcement: The EAT team overplanted, so on Friday June 4th, we will have tomato plants by the Bicycle rack and the students and parents can grab one, one per person. Optional donations are welcomed! Oceans 411 Game Night: How do we commemorate yet another amazing Oceans 411 when we can't gather as a group? OSS PTO is hosting Oceans 411 Game Night on Friday, June 4, at 6:30pm. Join us online to test your knowledge, play some fun games, and celebrate the culmination of our annual Oceans 411 program! Registration is FREE and open to the community, so invite your family and friends to play along. Visit ossgamenight.eventbrite.com or click HERE to register today!
